At Roskilde’s new creative district, Musicon, the Acoustic Absorption Screen is positioned along the highway. The screen borders Musicon, with the Rock Museum Ragnarock on one side and the Roskilde Festival on the other. The design of the screen draws inspiration from music, rhythms, compositions, and tempos.
The Acoustic Absorption Screen unfolds in a rhythmic progression across its entire length. It consists of compositions that collectively establish the rhythm and flow. These compositions are made up of vertical slats of varying depths, widths, and spacing. The design of the screen is akin to a musical piece, expressed through changing tempo markings. Beginning at the off-ramp with a moderate, slow pace, it gradually intensifies before slowly tapering off as the tempo decreases, culminating at the end of the screen.
Materials and Time
The materials draw inspiration from Musicon and have been aesthetically combined in a way that will allow them to transform in color over time, much like skin—a tactile membrane that evolves in appearance over the years. The screen will shift from golden hues, gradually transitioning to grayish and dark brown/black tones, with the anodized aluminum elements remaining unchanged. This creates a contrast within the screen while continuing to reference Musicon and the Ragnarock Museum located behind it
